Traditional Newari Home

30+ Years of Family Recipes

Our Story

Born from a
Grandmother's Kitchen

Yana Kitchen was born from the warmth of a traditional Newari home in Bhaktapur — where the scent of timur and dried chilies filled every corridor, and gathering around a meal was an act of love.

Our founder, Maya Shrestha, grew up watching her grandmother prepare ancient Newari feasts: the ceremonial samay baji platters, the slow-simmered aila-braised meats, the hand-pounded spice blends that no recipe could fully capture.

Today, Yana Kitchen carries that same spirit — preserving the culinary heritage of the Newar people while welcoming curious travelers and food lovers from around the world into this intimate, living kitchen.
